Subject: misfire or ??? IP: Logged
Message: I own a '98 Dodge Dakota with a 5.2 liter V8, automatic trans, 4WD. Since new, it always had a shudder while creeping forward or reverse with no gas applied and foot feathering the brake. At first the dealer said I was just being picky and now he is saying that their are many complaints like this and that it is because of a "lean-burn misfire". The question I have is, are there any aftermarket ECUs or adjustments that would eliminate this annoying shaking or is this just an unavoidable circumstance due to the jiggly rear suspension? When I drive forward at a low speed (20-30mph) and apply the brake hard and then release it quickly you can feel the rear axle "wind-up" and then unload causing the vehicle to shudder and bounce......Anyone want to buy a '98 Dakota??? LOL
Thank you for any advice!

Message: Steve,
I have a 1999 5.2 Durango and have no problems
at all in fact I just went out and ordered a
2001 4.7 Quad cab Dakota. My advice is to
contact the corporate office. You will get
results. I did it with an Oldsmobile and
bug them until they gave me a new car. Good luck
