I am looking at getting a bed extender for my Quad Cab, and was wondering what the best one is to get. There is the Mopar version, and the Steelhorse Bed X-Tender.
Anyone installed the Mopar version? If so what do you think about it, and how does it stay down on the tailgate?

I've gor a Bed-Xetnder by Amp Research and like it a lot. I open it up to allow larger loads in the bed or to lay 2"x6" (or 8") by 10' lumber or 4'x8' plywood sheets onto so they don't want to slide when I start or go up hills. (The notches in the top of the wheel wells hold a 2"x6" to permit wide stuff to lay flat, ya know). Install is easy with the provided template for the pivot plates that attach to the sides of the bed just forward of the tail-gate. When in the 'extended' position, it stays in place-with the pivot point being a foot or more away and half way up the vertical face it takes quite a bounce to bring the extender up. It is easy to remove if needed-raise it to the top of its traveling arc and simply lift up and off. It goes back on the same way. I can't speak to the MOPAR unit, but I'd expect it functions the same way. I don't use mine a lot, but for the times I've needed it, it's been worth the money!,...D

I`ve got the Steelhorse model and it works great!I`m pretty sure it`s the same one Mopar sells with a different name for less $$.Got mine at a my local Pep Boys for $199 , well worth it in my opinion.I also have the LeBra top mount snapless bed cover that I really like.A friend of mine has the Mopar one and it`s the exact same one as mine except his has a small Mopar tag on it.Not sure what the $ diff. is.Anyway you`ll be happy with any of them.

I have the Steel Horse bed extender on our Quad Cab.
For the real long stuff I bought a Seaport Machine RAil N Rack system. It's a 500lb capacity lumber rack that folds down into good looking bed rails. They have attachments/adapters available to use the Yakima accessories with their product.
