Message: Tighter government regulations and increases in engine manufacturers’ demands are calling for more fuel efficient lubricants. AMSOIL Motor Oils reduce friction and drag better than petroleum oils, resulting in significant fuel economy increases. In a recent 1.2 million mile demonstration, AMSOIL Lubricants showed a 4.5% increase in gas mileage. Other tests have shown increases of as much as 15% under certain weather and driving conditions. Yet, because every vehicle is different, as are driving habits and conditions, it is difficult to accurately project an exact increase.

Message: Air drag/resistance increases as the square of the velocity of the vehicle in question. Double the speed and the drag increases four-fold.
My manual trans with the 4.7 gets good mileage when shifted at 2000RPM. Someone had stated the shift indicator on the 3.9L lights about 2,000 RPM.
When driving short distances, forget doing 65MPH and do 55MPH. The time savings is minimal compared to the fuel consumption and wear and tear on your vehicle.
Here's an example...
On my way to work, there is a stretch of highway 5.3 miles long that the speed limit was increased from 55 to 65. By doing 65MPH instead of 55MPH I get to work a whole 53 seconds faster... WOW!

One week into the new job.
How is the new job and are you keeping a driving
log? You could always work a couple of hours
overtime each week for a little extra pocket
change and drive like a bat outa hell.
