Subject: Skip shift problems 1st to 3rd? IP: Logged
Message: I have a 4.7L 5spd and I am used to skipping gears in my old car. It should be real easy in this torquey truck but for some reason its not. I am getting interference shifting from 1st to 3rd, it won't go in unless I force it or back it off and push in again. It will easily go from 3rd to 5th, no problem. Also 2nd to 4th is a real pain. Lately even with the clutch all the way in I can pull out of 1st and then back in and the synchro will grind. Its like the clutch pedal is not in all the way, but its on the floor. The bushing for the clutch cable squeaks like crazy so I am thinking maybe it needs adjustment. Only has 7300 miles on the truck, so WTF? Thanks

Message: I've had no such problems with mine (knock on wood) thus far. I can go from any gear to any other gear though DC doesn't recommend doing this. I only skip gears on the down shift. I'd have your clutch and all checked out.
