Sometimes, when I am sitting and revving my engine, I hear this loud backfire type noise come from under the hood. Its not a backfire b/c i know what that sounds like. Its almost like a loud pop. It scares the hell out of me b/c i think that I am blowing something up under there. Anyone got any suggestions? Maybe I have a vaccum leak somewhere, or a manifold leak, and exhaust is popping out of it. Just wanted to know if anyone has some suggestions?

It sounds like it is backfiring thru the throttle body.

Anything to do to help prevent that? It did it before too when I had my V6 throttle body. Not just with the 5.9L TB. Thanks!

Someone on here has stated the V-6's had a problem with the gasket/seal on the cover over the bottom of th eintake manifold. From what I read, the intake is a 2-piece affair on the V-6. Any plug fouling or oil smoke (bluish-white)?

Is the cover over the bottom you are refering to the Belly Pan? I was wondering if that could be the problem b/c yes, on our trucks they put crappy belly pan gaskets that get blown and let oil into the intake. My plugs are good, and no smoke, but as soon as I can, I am fixing that belly pan gasket.
