FINALLY - after around 4 months of research and 8 months of saving money (Wife lost her job at one point during this time :o ) I finally walked into the dealer and said get my truck built already :)
I'm paying $100 over invoice plus the stupid regional advertising fee (only $500). Basically a $26K truck for only $24K - not bad. Easiest deal I've ever done, just picked the options, put some $500 down, took all of 10 mintues by dealing directly with the fleet manager. Just praying the $2,000 cash back is still available when it arrives in June/July. Payments should be under $400 easy with my trade (beat up Ranger Splash :p )
Thanks to everyone who posted info, I read alot of it and that answered 90% of my questions!
Oh... what am I getting you ask?
'02 Quad Cab, 2WD, SLT +, 4.7l V8, AT, bucket seats, anti-spin, 3.92, HD Service, and the Towing package (I've got a 16' Action Craft Flat boat). Silver paint w/grey seats. Looks sharp with the chrome grill and black windows I think.
Can't wait till I lose the Ranger and get something with POWER! ...working A/C will be nice too ;)

I ordered mine two weeks ago just found out that it shipped today, now that's fast! Don't worry about the rebate it takes effect the minute the order is received and as long as it's picked up within 5 days of delivery your ok.
And guess what? I'm also getting rid of a ford ranger 4 cyl.

I also orderd mine two weeks ago (4/11). $679 UNDER invoice! QC sport+, Patriot Blue, full time 4x4, 4.7L, LSD, towing, HD, all the electronic gizmos, premium sound, blah, blah, blah ...
I live on the sunset side of MI so shipping shouldn't take too long but I was told to expect to wait at least a month, probably two, for it to be built. I really want to get rid of the 10 year old Grand Am, it SUCKS! :(
You other guys dream about yours too? :)

Yeah, I watch the sun set into Lake Michigan from my porch, and a nice sandy beach is just a 5 min walk away. :) Warren is about a 185 mile drive.
No family discount here. I went on the 'net to do my research then visited dealerships until I found one that treated me nice and was willing to sell it to me for what I wanted to pay. It's amazing how many sales people are willing to lie right to your face. I finally found a nice young girl that didn't give me any crap, she just wanted to sell me a truck.
I didn't get EVERY option, no bed liner (I'll Rhino it later), I decided against leather after reading posts here, and no block heater. :)

I ordered mine a few weeks ago and it is scheduled to be built Wednesday.
I asked my dealer about the rebates changing and he said that if it goes down I am locked in at the $2000. If it goes up? I get that too! You should call your dealer and clear that up before it becomes a problem, which it shouldn't.
Sounds like we ordered the exact same truck, except I got 4wd and no tow package. Same colors seats, everything. I like that color with chrome and dark windows. I can't wait!

One other thing to share. I am tracking my truck's progress and it's kinda fun.
call 1800-992-1977 press these to get through the prompts: 1-2-5-2
Then wait for a rep and say you want to check the status of a vehicle and give the VON. Then they give you the VIN. The DC folks are very helpful and friendly. They give you ship dates, tell you tracking for rail, etc. It's pretty cool.
