Subject: Possible Leaky 3rd Brake light

I recently bought a 99 4x4 Club Cab SLT Dakota. I bought it from a dealership. The truck was used by an employee and he was loading 2x4's into the bed and happen to put one into the window which cracked it. The dealership had a glass company put a new back window in. I purchased the truck and I noticed the back window was leaking. I took it back and they took the window out and resealed it. A few weekes later notice water coming in again they want me to bring it back so they can take the window out again to reseal it. I have tried to tell them that it looks like it may be from the third brake light instead of the window to check it and they seem like they are morons and will not listen to me. I called a dodge dealership about it and they say that it will not be warranted because of the window being replace but I beleive it is not the window. Before I go and start looking at the brake light myself and definitly voiding the waranty on it has any one had a 3rd brake light leak or does anyone have any suggestions? Other than this stupid problem I love the truck got rid of a 97 ford and the dodge is by far a all around nicer truck.

Thanks,
Brad

Here's a suggestion for you. I use to trace leaks for a dodge dealership I worked for. Take a garden hose and hose the truck down with the water just slowy coming out so you can control where it sprays. Start at the lowest possible point you think it is leaking at when you find water coming in that is where the leak is. It helps to have a friend help you. One other thought be sure and check those little body strips in between the roof and side panels the love to leak. When you find the leak seal it with clear RTV. I would not worry about the warranty and do it my self.
