Subject: Oil Pressure Reading IP: Logged
Message: I looked at a used 99 Dakota today(v6). I noticed the oil pressure fluctuated with the engine speed. The pressure is always steady on my Ranger. Is this normal for a Dakota or is something wrong? At idle the reading is a little lower than the middle mark. As the speed was increased it climbed to about 3/4.

Message: Dakota oil pressure gauges are -accurate- :0)
Thats a normal reading. When the engine slows down, the oil pump slows down, meaning less pressure. Just about all the older (pre-computer) Chevys and Fords have similiar responses to throttle input in relation to oil pressure. The Dakota is one of the few computer-controlled vehicals that doesnt 'smooth' to an average reading. Don't worry about it! :0)
Unless it drops to 0... oh, had that happen once on my old Chevy. Scary.
