Message: This may be the dumbest idea ever but I thought I would throw it out there.
I had this idea for a muffler that has like two sides to it. One could be a loud deep tone and then you switch over to a "stock-like" muffler sound when you want things quite.
It could have some kinda flap inside the muffler that is activated my a pull switch or something in the cab somewhere.
I think this would be cool for those who sometimes want no sound (if you drive on the freeway a lot).
I just thought I'd throw that out there.

Message: Jcwhitney has a Y "valve" that goes just before the muffler that is adjustable. It has a cable that you can run into the cab which allows you to open and close the valve for loudness. Basically, all it does is divert the exhuast from the muffler to an open pipe. Make sense... hehe
I wonder how well it works. I think they are about $25 so its worth a try!

Message: I bought one last week. After looking at it closely, I decided against installing it. First off, it is really cheap quality, the casting isn't perfectly round. Secondly, the flap inside the housing has nothing to seal it shut, it is real loose and would leak exhaust gases, making the tone of the exhaust when shut sound like crap. It is a really crude design, I would not recommend it at all. I sold it to my roommate who is building up a new smallblock for his 82 chevy as we speak....I told him what I thought about it, but he thinks its be best thing ever......his loss, but what do you expect for a Bowtie fan?!?!?!??!

Message: My dad had one about 20 years ago on a chevy truck...its called an exhaust cutout...and it leaked like crazy. He said the smell of exhaust got really bad. After the seal gets eaten away by the exhaust gas, it is just a peice of crap. I recomeend not getting one.

Message: They also had the "cutout" about 30 years ago. Allot of the hot rods had them.
