Subject: Bed Squeek, help! IP: Logged
Message: MY bed is squeeking... and it's really annoying! At least, I think it's my bed or something under it. Have any of you guys had this problem? I still have a warranty, but i'ld like to go into the dealer with knowledge about what it is... any help would be much appreciated.

Message: Make sure it isn't your rear leaf-spring packs. There is a TSB out for those...don't remember off the top of my head which years are encompassed though.

Message: Yep, mine does the same thing when you hit bump. I am going to make and appt for late next week to have it looked at. Didn't really hear it at first, but now with the warmer weather and the windows down I sure can hear it now.

Message: What year is it? You may want to check the heat shield that runs above the tailpipe and muffler. These have been a problem area with the 2001 models.

Message: Do what I did, just take your bed of it's frame. Then the only noise you have to worry about is her screaming and moans.
Ohhhh, I suppose you meant your truck bed. Man I'm Stupid!!!! Just kidding.

Message: You can try tightening up the bed mounts, but I'm more inclined to think its the leaf springs. Any pressure placed on/in the bed will also shift the leaf springs some...thus causing them to make noise.
To settle this once and for all, you could jack up the truck & set the FRAME on jack stands with the rear tires off the ground. You could then dink around with the box to see whether or not it makes any noise.

Message: I got an idea for you. Just try spraying some silicone on the bed mounts, then take it for a drive. If the sound goes away temporarily, you found your prob.
May or may not work on the springs, though.
