I have a 2002 Dodge Dakota Quad cab. I cuurently have the stock rims and tires but today I ordered some of the bandit rims from afxwheels.com. I am looking at the new Nitto Terra Grappler tires to match with these rims.....my question is this will the 285/75/16's fit with no rub? Or should I stick with the 265/75/16's? Anyone have a set of 285's on their truck? Any advice would be appreciated.

Hey Ebolavirs,
Found this doing a search and was wondering if you ever ended up getting the Nitto 285/75/16. This is the same tire I want to get on a new set of aftermarket 16" rims with the stock 4x4 height. If you did get them was there any rubbing and what did you do to stop it. Also what are the specs. on the 16" rims you put these tires on. If you have any pics with them on, can you post them. Thanks for the help.

This size tire is roughly equivalent to 33x11.50 / 16. They are actually a little taller than 33's. I think they will be too tall and will rub when you turn uphill in particular. 285/70/16 would probably work but you won't find much selection in that size.
I'm going to upgrade to 17's next winter on a 03 qc 4wd. Hopefully by then there will be a better selection of 17" wheels and tires.

I would say they would not fit witout a lot of rubbing on a stock 4x4. I just put on a set of 265x75-16 on my truck and they rub a little at full turn.
I am really impressed with these tires. They worked great this past weekend in the snow and ice.

BC, can I assume you have a 4x2? Those are the tires that came stock (upgraded) on my '03 4x4 QC and I have obviously no rubbing. It suprised me to hear that it rubbed on yours..

No it is a stock 2001 4X4. The orginal tire for it was a 275x70-16, so I only increased the sidewall by 5%. I have to do will have to do some trimming!!

i put them on today with only a little rub. with a little trim on the mud flap it has only rub at full turn. u can drill a few holes to fix that with a few zip ties to pull the well back enough to not have any rub at all.its a 05 dakota v8 mag with p285/75 16s. went to a place and checked for rub a few cuts and shaves and looks and drive great. just check it before you get rid of ur old ones
