1. No 5.7 Hemi R/T

7. Viper is not much faster then the Vette, handles worse and costs ~$30,000 more
8. They were so worried about making there cars look good that they forgot to put the right engines in the right ones.
9. 8.0 V10 ram has only 310 hp!!!! when GMs 6.0 V8 has 345. (I guess when dodge decided to make the 5.9 the forgot to add the .1 litres that had the extra 95-100 hp)
10. Because people look at me and say "Dodge!!?? Why'd you get a Dodge!!??"
and all i can say is "becasue it looked cool."

1st, who the FUC# cares what other people say about what u drive? You like your dak? Thats all you need. 2nd, cause it looked cool? not a damn thing wrong with that. i know people who joined the marines cause they liked the uniforms better than the army, navy, and air force. something wrong with that. hp per ci isn't that bad on a 4.7L... (would be why i bought it vice the other choices) they concentrate on the Ram... the dak is STILL the smallest truck with a V8 offered from the factory as far as i know (could be wrong) the 5.7... well.. lets say the people at dodge know alot more than you about what's going on in the market, and they'll make smart desicions based off their info. WTF is wrong with amberfire? that's MY color! wtf.. BAH!! HUMBUG!!!

I'm sorry, but I hated Amber Fire, UGLY!, but I loved Solar Yellow -- wanted it on my truck. Also, most people knew that intense blue belonged to Dogde and it was a good trademark like colour.

Chevy s-10 sucks because nobody can fit in the back seat.

The Dakota is in a class of its own, no other manufac. domestic or import makes a mid-size truck that has a V8... period. Not to mention the fact that there are TWO choices.
The color palette changes because they want to keep interest in newer models ... believe me when I tell you that they have some of the best marketing people in the business ... and if they pulled Amber Fire there would have been a good reason for it.
The 5.7 Hemi will land in a Dakota ... I would bet the farm on that one. Maybe not '03 or '04 ... but it WILL.

) Who cares? Dak's are nice but people want sport trucks and the dak may be faster but they want everyone who wants a truck to buy one and for the most part that's a full size. The SRT-10 is a replacement for the R/T as a sport truck to compete head to head with the Lighting which the R/T couldn't do. Granted this is a good beef you can have with a dodge but from what I hear you own a V6 anway so what do you care.

Wouldn't you only pay attention to the ones making the money? FYI - The Rams are not getting more attention. The designed the greatest compact truck ever with a V8 and you want them to fuk with it? Honestly it's a cycle every car gets remodeled after X years and it's Ram's time not the Dak's, The Dak's will be in 04 I think. What is the STX how can they be ignoring the Dak while they are using part bins to make changes to the good looks without any real changes that could piss people off. Ignoring the Dak's you must be retarted, please explain as what you mean because from what I see they made an STX model, they added a 4.7L and the 45rfe tranny, that the ram didn't get until years later. It sounds liek the Ram WAS getting ignored.
3. Canned neat colors(solar yellow, intense blue, amber fire)
Obviously the world doesn't agree with you. Money changes all and I guess less people were buying them then they needed or wanted so they stopped. Go to a paint place and get yours painted the way you want. Hell you would like it better that way.
4. Not enough hp per ci
The 4.7's are good, and well the Dodge engines are power band happy old sturdy design's except for the 4.7. The V6 is slow but it gains better in it's power band then most other V6's, I don't know about you but my 01 Ram V6 really is a dog but kicks major a$$ from 60-90mph, not many cars do that. Most go even slower.
5. horrible gas milage on V6s but not v8s
Really you think that, the new 4.7L are of a different stock the LA block's, but all LA blocks don't get good gas mileage. It varies from one to another. Checkout some Ram's they get 9mpg(V8's) gas mileage while I have heard some get 16mpg(V8's). Generally speaking the ones that get good gas mileage get good perofrmance those that don't, don't. It kinda sucks but some believe it has to do with the timing being a little advanced in some engines and not in others.
6. Don't produce enough 4.7 4x4s when they know the V6 is way too weak to pull them
They produce more then enough, you just don't realize that it's the dealer that orders the trucks. Your dealer just decided he wanted more V6's. Your dealer orders trucks the same way you can special order them. The dealer just choices options that he thinks will sell or he can charge you with.
7. Viper is not much faster then the Vette, handles worse and costs ~$30,000 more
Okay, two different ball parks here, the Viper is much faster then the vette when you think about it, to reduce the quarter mile time in half, you must increase the HP by 4 times. The Viper is drag car from the ground up not a cornering deamon. You can compare these all you want but everyone who buys a viper(and alot do) want it for the looks, class, and speed. Do you really think a proche is worth $200,000 and is slower then vette? No way but you pay that much because of a looks and class aspect. If everyone had a proche it wouldn't be cool any more.

They didn't forget, everything deals with numbers and they decided it would cost more to replace the eninges right now they the customers they would lose. I am sorry but you did buy the truck didn't you. So they realized your a sap that doesn't care about hp enough so that you won't buy the truck. When they come out with better engines your gonna go buy a new one because it will seem better then.

This goes back to the power band and the different designes for engines. It's slower but it has a boarder torque curve which means alot if your serious about towing. What about a diesel with only 300 hp and lower in almost all cases but at the same time delivering 500-600 ft pounds of torque in the flatest curve.

and all i can say is "becasue it looked cool."
And you sir are the reason people have marketing and design teams working on their trucks. You bought something you don't want simple because they made it appeal to you and they overcame the lacking features.

Those Extra HP's that chevy gets is costing it in long term durability. You have to squirt more gas to get more power and when you are running that rich carbon deposits become a real issue. Just because you have not heard about this does not mean they are not dealing with it. In a truck I would rather have alot of low end torq. and a realy flat torq. and hp curve. The only down side is that low in torq. requires one of two things. Lots of CI's or boost. If you want to talk power talk Cummins Turbo diesel compared to the anemic 6.2,6.5 and the newer much better Duramax. They still can not compare to the Cummins. If you tear them apart you can see why!!! Have you hoped in a 4 Door S-10 lately????? Can you say tight!!!!They also have too much body flex and sqeak from the get go.

Don't expect the Dakota R/T to go away without a fight. Tere are plans for a Dakota SRT-8 with the 5.7L hemi. The Dakota is one of Dodges best sellers because it does appeal to so amny people. Bigger than a s-10 or Ranger, but smaller than a full size. Not everyone wants a full size, but they do like a truck with a little practicality. Now, don't knwo how long the Dak will last. The Buzz watch says '04 last year for Dak. Will be repaced with something else. I'm sure it will be in the same class and carry on the Dodge tradition of dominance in their class.

Dealers do not get to pick for the most part what vehicles they want. Yes they send in a wish list but what they recieve is based on sales. They don't order v6's because they think they can sell them better it's just what they end up with. Also if they have alot of old inventory sitting around then they get passed over by the new stuff.

I agree with everything Ll Blackdak said, but in reality I love my DAK a lot.
I wish the 4.7L had more power, because a altitude it is a dog when towing. But then again, if I wanted to tow, I would have bought a diesel. dodges rule

again....I do own a dodge and I think chrysler is probably the best american car company. If you felt like complaining about one...where would you go...???? oh and nips...if you were serious about towing you would get a diesal truck(probably a Silverado) with 6 cylinders and just as much(if not more) torque. hence the reason why I could count on 1 hand the number of V10 rams i've seen but not the number of diesal 2500+3500 rams even though they cost 4000-5000 more.

Vipers are one of the best handling cars in the world. Look at any magazine you want. Vipers run faster lap times, are quicker in the slalom, and pull around 1g on the skid pad. Vettes arn't even close to the Vipers league. Chevy make you pay $600 for a manual trans(that is some sports car). The dodge V-10 was designed in the late 80's. Ford's v-10 still doesn't have better power. The cheby powerplants are all new designs. When the 353 HEMI comes out it will rape the 6L chevy mill.

you have to realize that the V10 in the truck isnt a high horsepower engine. It is geared and made for a truck. Now i am not going to say it's the best V10 truck engine because I am a dodge fan but do some research.
btw.... the stick is a no cost option in the camaro/firebird/corvette... but the hurst short shifter does cost a little.

Nice ramblings and complainings!
I've got a '00 QC with a 5.9 [11,835 miles] and I knew the mileage would bite. I like the styling, room, handling and rest of the 'pros', and am willing to accept the 'cons'. It does what I need and it's nice that other drivers also think it is a nice rig.
Heck, drive what you like and like what you drive; don't expect a TRUCK to be like a CAR. Have fun with it-life's too short to bellyache all the time!
