Howdy,

I am installing a new stereo and would like to by-pass the factory amp. Where is it? Thanks in advance for any help.

Jay

I have heard that the stock amp is behind the passenger side kick panel.

Hey thanks,

I got off the phone with the dealer and they told me it is built into the speaker. I said no. I am looking at the speaker now. No amp. He said that is where it is. He did not make me happy I will tell you that much I will look for that amp tonight in that location. Thanks!!

Jay

Are you sure there even is an amp? I got the standard am/fm/tape and it didnt come with amps. For what you pay for upgraded factory system you can get a really good aftermarket one.

Yupper,

Connected the amp lead from the deck to the wireing harness I get sound. With out it no sound. The alpine speakers sound a lot better with out that factory amp. Tested it while trouble shooting. We only ran one wire to one speaker. I do not want to re run the wire for all four. Just want to by-pass amp. I think it would be a lot easier.

If you have the infinity sound system it is in the passenger side right above the kick panel. If its not there then I have no clue where it is.

This is just a guess, as I don't own a newer dakota, but in my 96 intrepid, the amp is built into the dash speaker, which in tern powers the door speaker and rear speaker. Sounds strange, but that's the way my car is. Maybe they did something similar. Just a thought.
