Ever since I got my 40 series flowmaster put on I have noticed a wierd smell sometimes after accelerating and stopping. I know the smell is my exhaust...it never did this before...I have had it on for a little over 1k miles. Any help would be great.

hmm....after about a 100 or so miles, the stinky smell should have went to stinky heaven. What kind of smell is it? Metallic or rotten eggs?

hard to say...probably more of a rotten egg smell...i think. it only does it sometimes though...like after ive been drivin for a while i'll stop at a light and the smell will drift up...i drive around with the windows down 24-7. Ive never seen any smoke or anything...i'm pretty protective of my dak so i look all the time. So protective my girl has only driven it once and that was in a parking lot. One thing...ihavent seen one drop of water come out of my tailpipe and before i had it installed there was always water. oh well...thanks for your help.

It could be your catalytic convertor, they can smell like that when they are plugged. Although my third cat (doh!) smelled like that for a while but checked out fine. Also, depending upon where you are, there could be sulphur in the gas.

What Lesley said is quite true. A rotten egg smell is a warning sign of a cat about to or is bad. And it could be the sulphur content of the gas, try running a couple tanks of a different brand. If it still persists, take it to a place that does free diagnosis, like Midas or something.

I use different brands all the time...BP...Hess...Mobil...chevron...basically wherever I'm at when I need gas. I live in tampa FL, why is there sulphur in gas? My cat is covered under warranty...think I should get it checked out or just spring for a carsound? :) Lesley, you see Blade 2 yet?

I don't know which part, but a friend of mine watched it and said Cat was in it. Also, you can buy Red Dwarf tapes at www.bbcamerica.com

They are making a Red Dwarf movie due out next year!

Well then we'll never mention that again in public...ok Lesley. :)

It was a british show they used to play on cbs about a mining spaceship with one human "lister", a hologram "rimmer", and android, and a mutated cat trying to find their way back to earth after thousands of years...all the other humans died in some sort of accident while the lone remaining human "lister" was in a sort of cold storage as a penalty for having a cat, which wasn't allowed, thus the "cat" character, a descendant of the original cat....blah blah....yadda yadda yadda.
