Message: I have much the same question.
I have a Gibson swept-side sitting at the house. My JBA Cat4Ward silver ceramic-coated headers are on order. That pretty much leaves the cat & the Y-pipe. I had been thinking of getting the JBA Y-pipe, but I'm unsure if its worth the money.

Message: Yes buy the y-pipe, in particular the PPH headers from John Mercedes or Krcperformance.com. The 2001 y-pipe is 2" and with the PPH headers you get to eliminate the pre-cats.
The shortie headers don't take care of the restrictions of the y-pipes and cats.

Message: The pre-cat are not that restrictive, the main cat it the problem. Buying the Y-pipe would require you to purchase the K-box too! That's will cost you some more money.
If I could do it all over again, I wouldn't even bother with all the little performance parts. Buy a supercharger and smile. When it time to sell, remove it, sell it and either trade the truck in or sell it as stock. Stock always seems to get you more money.
