Okay I just ordered a V6 Club Cab Dakota Sport Plus and i was reading a lot of posts here and i was wandering what i could really do to the truck without voiding my warrenty completly. Like could i change to a 180 thermometer or put a thunderform or custom box in my truck without voiding it? Or even change the deck? Like i know exterior things like grill inserts, tonneau covers and running boards are fine but i was just thinking about it. I would like to keep my warranty for a while so any info about u can give me would be great. I think i will go into my dealer and ask but until than Thanx.

Let's just say that volumes could be written about warranties & whether or not the dealer will say that you violated yours. Think of it this way:

What do you want to replace/upgrade, what kind of warranty does the stock component have, and how does that component tie into the vehicle?

For example, you mentioned changing the deck. In that case, the dealer probably won't replace your stock speakers under warranty if you blow one. They'll claim that it is the after-market deck's fault that the speaker blew.

Bottom line is that there are no set guidelines. As much as dealers will try and hide behind warranty paperwork, there are loop-holes. Hope that helps.
