Subject: Got The Line-X IP: Logged
Message: I took yesterday off of work and had it sprayed in my truck. Matt Rogers in Monroe MI did an awesome job on my truck. First I wanted under the rails, then decided to get the top of the tailgate like a normal plastic insert, but a buddy at work, had me thinking about it and decided my best bet was to go with over the rails. It turned out great, it was $440.00. If it weren't for this forum I would have probably got a drop in. Thanks everyone.

Message: Doh, where did that sentence go..
Why did you choose Line-X, I still havn't decided.
It snows a lot here, so prefferably something sticky but does not get real slick when wet. I wanted a rhino liner, but I've been told it gets real slick when wet.

Message: well it's raining like a b!tch here and it doesn't seem slick at all. I have heard Rhino liners are a little more skid resistant, but the texture isn't consistent. Because it doesn't dry as fast, I guess it tends to run to the bottom as it's sprayed so the bottom is thicker than the top. I don't know what Rhino's like when wet.

Message: Go for the LINE-X and DON'T get the colored ones. They are very very very hard to match up the color if they have to repair it. With the black you will get a match 99.9% of the time. LINE-X rules. Here in Oregon where it rains 364 days of the year its great.

Message: Go with black...unless you are really dead-set about the look you want your Dak to have. The colored liners are known to fade (some less than others) and be less durable because you are diluting LineX's chemical make-up with actual paint. Additionally, the LineX shop that shot my Quad Cab stated that they'd lifetime warrant black, but that they'd only provide a 5 year warranty on colored bed-liners.
As for drop-in versus spray-in, there is no competition. Proof in point: Back when I was in the Marine Corps, a buddy & I both bought Rangers at about the same time. I had mine Line-X'ed, and he went with the traditional drop-in. About 3 years later, my buddy pulled his bedliner out to find that the underside was packed with sand/dirt/silt. After taking it to a car wash & hosing all of it out, he found that most of the truck bed was exposed; the bedliner had vibrated around enough that it had literally sanded most of the box down to the metal. And, to make matters worse, all that dirt that was down there was capturing moisture....I don't need to tell you what happens when you have stagnant moisture on exposed metal.

Message: Anyone had their spray-in-liner removed? Any info would be great. If you look at some of the older posts, I have always suggested line-x to dak owners. That, of course, was after I had a different brand of Ultimate Linings installed. Needless to say, it sucks.

Message: I got Line-x in mine a week ago. Looks great.
I went for Line-X over Rhino for 2 reasons.
1. Rub Line-X against Rhino and the Rhino scrapes away.
2. Rhino needed to keep my truck all day to do the job. The Line-X guy only had it for 3 hours

Over the rails looks great.
A friend in the office who has Rhino saw mine and (thinking it was Rhino)said "what do you do, keep it in the garage."
He said this, because even with great care, per Rhino instructions, his (after only 8 months) has tuned blotchy gray - it looks like oxidized paint.
He was very bummned when I told him I leave my truck outside, Line-X does not trun gray.

Message: I saw an interesting story on Fox News Channel back on Apr. 2. It was about Line X brand bed liners. The story was about the line-x's materials ability to absorb impacts, and control debris after an impact on a line-x coated surface. They showed a demonstration of a guy throwing a cinder block off a roof, probably about 12 ft. in the air, onto the concrete below... onto regular concrete, the brick shattered. when throw onto a line-x coated section of concrete, the cinder block remained intact. They said the Pentagon and line x are talkin about the possible use of line x in the Pentagon I guess in case of bomb blasts as a way of controling impacts and debris. It was interesting to see another use for what i have sprayed in my Dak's bed.

I wonder what the production costs of it is too..

Message: I have about 5 different types of spray in liners available in my area. I've surveyed owners of them all. My dad had Line-x put in his Ram about 5 years ago and it IS a gray color now. Line-x, when shot, still looks like a very dark grey to me. Its also a very hard and dull finish. I looked at the Rhino (brother in-laws truck)and I didn't like the finish. I went with a brand called Speedliner. Same warranty as the Line-x but about $100 cheaper. Almost as hard as the Line-x but a lot more skid resistant (dry and wet). It has a lot deeper texture and is a shiny BLACK. I've seen a few a couple of years old with no fading. I'm not knocking the Line-x or Rhino. I think they're both good liners. Just make sure that you do a little research and get the liner that's best for you. Just make sure you stay clear of the roll on do-it-yourself jobs. I've taken a lot of heat, about my liner brand, from everyone that has the Line-x at work. That was until they came to the parking lot and looked at my truck. Two of them said they wished they had known about my type of liner before they shot theirs.

Message: I had Rhino on my last truck and was thinking about going with line-x after reading these posts. However, I have a friend at work that had his truck line-x'd so I went and looked at it and have decided to go back with the Rhino. The line-x looks great don't get me wrong and if I had hard heavy duty use for the bed I would probably go with it. What I don't like about it is how hard it is and I know it's not as slip resistant as my rhino. How do I know? I tried to slide a brick on it and it did, I couldn't on my old rhino. Like I said the line-x is definately for workhorse use but if I had that in mind for the truck I would have bought a 2500 ram. You can't go wrong with either in my opinion.

Message: Chris,
I have line-x sprayed over the rail and love it. I did a lot of looking for the "perfect" bed cover. One problem you may run into with a lot of the covers on the market is they don't have full clamp on mounting rails. Many of the hard, folding or rolling covers are uses of a drill in applications or tape on rails. Tape with not stick to the line-x correctly. My line-x dealer said to get your cover first. Then have them spray the liner in to work with it.

Message: I've got mine Line-X'ed (over the rail) & have the Mopar gull-wing tonneau cover. It actually works out great. The Line-X keeps the weather seals & bed rail-clamps from chewing up the paint.
I don't really have an update picture showing the Line-X & tonneau, but there are some photos of the gull-wing tonneau on my web site. From those, you should be able to see the mounting points, and where the weather seals will hit.
