OK, heres my prob:

My 01 Dak has 9000 miles on it.....I installed some Raybestos pads on it at about 7000 miles...they were squealing and squeaking, so I just installed some Raybestos Quiet stops...it was quiuet for a week, now its squeaking again...what causes this?

Rotors? Can it be the rear brakes Im hearing?

Hey Bluethunder, I also have this problem, but I replaced the rotors also when I did the pads. A buddy has told me to get this stuff called Disc Brake Quiet, by CRC. You can get it at Pep Boys or any local parts place. I havent had the time to try it yet, but I heard that It will work. If you try it before me let me know, and vice versa I will let you know. I think Jeff hit it on the head. My Quad Cab's stockers started squealing something fierce around 10K, but with minimal wear. Per some advice from a mechanic buddy, I pulled the front brakes apart, applied some of Napa's equivalent to Brake Quiet to the back of each pad, and put everything back together. It has been good until here recently...now at 27K.

Now if I could just get the time to install my Raybestos Quiet Stops & PowerSlot rotors!!

Hope that helps!!

Some mechanics just coat the backing plate with silicone rubber. The back of the brake pad. Most of the time its the pad vibrating that causes the squeeking.
