Subject: Trailer charging circut ?
IP: Logged

Message:
99 club cab 5.2L. I have an inclosed motorcycle trailer/ R.V. that I use when I go racing. I have recently added a Deep cycle battery to my trailer to run the power inverter for T.V/VCR and microwave. My question is what does the charge wire on the 7 pin truck conector wire up to in the truck. I have purchased the factory trailering wiring harness a couple of years ago and have since lost the insturctions. Can the charge wire come directly of the power distribution center or will it just come direct from the alternator? The factory wiring harness that I purchased came with a short wire from the 7 pin conector but what does it connect to? (it is labled charge). Also what about the accesories pin. Electric Brakes and all lights presently working.

I hooked mine up yesterday. It best put on the power distribution center. The only thing the center pin is for is if you need to run something special.

On my 2001 Dakota w/factory trailer lighting the connector is wired as follows:
1: Ground
2: Electric Brakes
3: Running Lamps
4: Battery +
5: LH Stop/Turn
6: RH Stop Turn
7: Backup Lamps (7 is the center pin)

In the factory wiring Diagrams Pin 4 (Battery +) is wired into the power distribution center (fuse/relay box under hood) and it's fuse is labeled, FUSE C, and is a 20 amp fuse. That circuit begins it's life at the main battery connection in the PDC.
I don't know if this helps...Good luck...
