Subject: new plugs rough idle
IP: Logged

Message:
Hi
I just changed to 3923's (gapped 0.040)and now it has a rough idle, and the check engine light came on?
Was fine before. The old plugs (stock) were worn (gap 0.046-0.050) and idled smooth.
I going to change the wires just in case I damaged one.
Any suggestions

With an insulated glove and pliers, remove and replace the plug wires one at a time with the engine running. This will isolate a bad plug/wire.

First- are all of your boots seated properly? Did you reset the PCM?

I had the same problem with my 3.9. I think the 3923's run better in the v8's than the v6's. Try a set of 5224's and gap them at 44. Worked best for mine.

I just put some 3923's in my 3.9 last week and gapped them to .040 and they're running great!
