my brother said he saw on speedvision, that 2002 is the last year for the vett. cadilac will be building a car that looks like the vett, but will be called something differant, and chevy is going to build a new spots car.
does anyone know anything about this? killing the vett, camaro, and TA in the same year?

I haven't heard this about the corvette.
I've heard 2003 is the last year for the Camaro and they may reintroduce it 2008.

The Vette is not dead. Next year is the 50th anniversary. And they will continue from there. There is a persistent rumor of a Cadillac branded variant.
The Camaro & Firebird are dead. However, without revealing future plans, Scott Settlemire (GM brand manager) told me with a wink, "the Camaro & Firebird trademarks are way to valuable to GM to do let them die and go away" I took it to mean the cars will be back in a few years on a different platform.
And if you wanted one find one on a show room because new order were closed on March 15.
"We will be sending our Chevy dealers a message this evening that the FINAL DATE TO ORDER A "SOLD" CAMARO SS IS THIS FRIDAY, MARCH 15. We are taking this action to try and ensure that all "SOLD" orders get built. At this point in time, it appears that any SOLD order placed by the dealer prior to March 5 will get built. Once final order receipts are in, I will have more information for you and we will be able to address "sold" orders from March 5th to the 15th."

Mark, when I owned my 93 maro, I met Scott in Orlando at a one of my Central Florida F-Body Meets (where I had my dash signed by him) and he told me the same thing. Was also when rumors of a FWD maro were going around and he told us there was no way in hell he'd let that happen. Its good to get inside information.

jj - I am sorry but you are mistaken the Z06 is an option package. It is simply like the SS package and similar. The LT1 is the engine code as well as LS1, L98, or other various names placed into vette's.
The Vette's are nicknamed by their generation in the form of C1 1953-1962, C2 1963-1967, C3 1968-1982, C4 1984-1996(No official 1983 vette's), C5 1997-Current. We are currently in the C5 gen, their are rumors about the C6 so it's my guess their will be a C6.

jj - don't sweat it, I have wanted one ever since I got a '86 300zx(my first car), I was like um no I want a real sports car. I did some study's and found out some info. I got a chance drive one and it felt great, but I still bought my dodge(2nd car) which feel's like the complete opposite.
FYI - the C6 may or may not have pop up headlights. The laws mandate that real Xenon lights must be fixed and so they are looking at different designs. The C6 should start around '04.

It's my understanding that the F-body line is going bye-bye but the Camaro and T/A will be back after a "short" resting period riding on GM's Australian line Holden. I've already seen a sneak of what they're calling the next Impala SS based on this line. It sports the LS-1 and a 6 speed. Don't know how familiar this sounds with anyone but Holden has had these types of cars for a few years now.
