Subject: spark knock - part 2 IP: Logged
Message: After much advice from this board, I pulled the platinum plugs and installed the Auto 3923's. The spark knock continued. I then had the rad. flushed and filled and installed a 180 deg. T-stat. The spark knock continued. I checked the PCM for codes and found none. I finally called a trusted mechanic and told him what I'd done already. After much thought, he told me to try Slick 50 at my next oil change. I changed the oil last night and added the slick 50. In the 5 miles I drive to work, the spark knock is gone. I'm not sure why (not sure I care, just glad to have it gone). Maybe just helped things run a little cooler due to less friction??? Thought you all might appreciate the update, and this may provide a fix for the especially stubborn ping.

I'm glad to hear that you've finally eliminated the knock. Be sure to keep us updated after some more miles. You might have found a cure for something that has bothered Dakota owners for years ;-)

Be careful with the Slick-50 stuff...there is a class-action suit against them. (FTC and Quaker State)
It is interesting though...definitely keep us posted.

Message: Bernd,
Do you know what the class action suit is for? Please tell me it's not the total spontaneous destruction of the engine and related parts. :)

Basically...SLick-50 doesn't do what it claims.
