Subject: spark knock - part 2

Message:
After much advice from this board, I pulled the platinum plugs and installed the Auto 3923's. The spark knock continued. I then had the rad. flushed and filled and installed a 180 deg. T-stat. The spark knock continued. I checked the PCM for codes and found none. I finally called a trusted mechanic and told him what I'd done already. After much thought, he told me to try Slick 50 at my next oil change. I changed the oil last night and added the slick 50. In the 5 miles I drive to work, the spark knock is gone. I'm not sure why (not sure I care, just glad to have it gone). Maybe just helped things run a little cooler due to less friction??? Thought you all might appreciate the update, and this may provide a fix for the especially stubborn ping.

I'm glad to hear that you've finally eliminated the knock. Be sure to keep us updated after some more miles. You might have found a cure for something that has bothered Dakota owners for years ;-)

Be careful with the Slick-50 stuff...there is a class-action suit against them. (FTC and Quaker State)

It is interesting though...definitely keep us posted.

Bernd,
Do you know what the class action suit is for? Please tell me it's not the total spontaneous destruction of the engine and related parts. :)

Basically...SLick-50 doesn't do what it claims.
