I'm the "black sheep" of the family...I went Army even though my dad, uncle, and grandfather had been in the Navy. Even my grandmother (mom's side) was in the Navy during WWII, but it was the German Navy.

Message: Kris,
A friend of mine is an instructor at the nuke school in Charleston. Small world!
Nuke program is tough! But if he can make it through he will have power companies beating down his door trying to get him to leave the Navy. Or if he stays, the Navy offers large bonuses for Nukes.

Message: I know, his re-enlistment bonus is supposed to be like $45000 or something like that. My dad was 20 year navy, BT. He retired in '94 at the ripe old age of 37...hehe. He is a pretty smart kid, I am just worried about him turning into my dad...(My dad was a hard a$$ that brought Navy stress home with him...)

Message: As of right now they can only go on carriers out to sea. (Since they're the only ships that have reactors on them.) As far as shore commands, they can go anywhere. Not sure if there are any 'ships' other than carriers that are considered seagoing vessels but are stationery.

Message: Carrier Shore Weenies?? LOL! Funny. I always knew you guys thought of us as targets. However,
I don't think that was shore duty sitting off the coast of Beirut 7 months (the first time) and 6 months (the second) while you sub guys were eating steak and lobster every night, or in port in Trondheim with some frauline!!

Message: Hey all. I am sorta wonderin about joining the Navy. I'm 20 right now and love math. Im in all the accelerated classes in my courses at my college. I noticed yall barely touched on the subject of enlistment or reenlistment bonuses. I noticed some large numbers to say the least. How does enlistment work?, and how does your salary work, bonuses? Can I please have some help on this topic?? Thanks in advance.

Message: I knew some good dudes in GTMO that were SeaBees.
I went to Nuke School in Orlando - but spent too much time down the road at "The Cover Girl"
Failed out the last day with a 2.3 GPA
Went back to ET school and then all over the place.
Did 10 years and got a bonus for getting out - during Clinton's downsizing
I don't think the demand for ex-Nukes is that powerful in the civilian world - or so I've heard...
I know the recruiters get a sweet little bonus for snagging Nuke wannabes
But the Military in general is deteriorating with all this political correctness and sissified liberal intervention.
Damn the Torpedoes, Full Speed Ahead

Message: Hey Jonathan, I just came off recruiting. I don't bull^&*$, just tell it like it is, if you are really interested in possibly joining, e-mail me. Depending on how many college credits you have...you are entitled to additional sign on bonuses for your college. But, I do not advocate joining the Navy for "sign on bonuses, or college money"...in today's uncertain world you'd better not forget your main reason for "service to country"...be ready to go when called upon to go....you know what I mean?? My e-mail is ragingcb@aol.com. Take care
