Subject: Speed Grille Question IP: Logged
Message: I would like to get the speed grilles for my 2000 Dak, but I am wondering about the quality of those clips that hold them in place. Are they spring loaded clips or something ? If the mounting hardware sucks I might not buy them if the grilles will push in when I wash them. Do they mount pretty solid? Also, are they easy to paint? I want to paint them to match my truck - forest green. Thanks in advance.

The clips are in fact spring loaded and they have a barb (like a fishing hook) on each side. My speed grilles have been in for close to a year and they have shown no signs of shifting ... even with pressure from washing them.
I would think that the grilles would be easy to paint as they are made out of aluminum. You might want to check with Street Scene to see if you need a special primer.
