Message: Are they making 2002 Dakota R/T's? I looked at dodge websites and I can't tell if they still make them? They are not listed at 4adodge.com in the R/T family, so I was curious.
Thanks

Message: They may not make a 2003 R/T because they don't plan on making any 360s for anything (Rams, Dakotas, or Durangos) after 2002. They could go to the 4.7 or the 4.7 HO for 1 year until the redesign but it's sort of up in the air. All you 4.7 fans, don't get your hopes up for a 4.7 HO 5-speed combo in a R/T (or any other Dakota) cause it's over the input torque rating for the nv-3500 just like the 360 is. Personally I's love to see the 4.7HO end up in the current Dakota R/T package just to see if it's extra ponies can overcome it's lower torque in a package where the only difference is the motor. The 5.9 limited Grand Cherokee still beats the new Overland with its 4.7 HO but thats not really fair as the new Overland is heavier overall even with a lighter motor.

Message: Well, all I have to say is this. With dodge putting out their mission statement saying that they would produce the fastest stock vehicles period don't look for them to do away with the r/t. Especially since chebby is coming out with their new midsize truck now. That truck is gonna come stock with 260 horse too I'm sure cause it's based on the trailblazer. Dodge is replacing the 360 and this is what I expect to see in the new r/t. If not, what they will do is put the 4.7 in the manual and the H.O. with the automatic but I can't see this happening. Why? Well dodge already has the fastest production car, viper, they already have the fastest production fullsize truck, svt 10, they just took the deisel crown with 305 horsepower and 555ftlbs torque at an awesome 1400 rpm! So why with sales being what they have, would they play second fiddle in the midsize department? I also forgot, the new neon is the fastest in it's stock class, domestic anyways and maybe even imports in the normally aspirated class. The reason you havn't seen an 03 is, well it's time for an upgrade. I really hope that they don't screw the looks up, but it's gonna happen cause it's really the only model ready for a facelift. I feel confident though whatever they do, it's gonna be mean.

Message: I'd say no way on the hemi being in the 2003 Dakota as it will be the same body style as the current Dakota. It would be the redesigned 2004 at the very soonest. Otherwise they would have already announced it at the car shows, and they would have a prototype running around. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see it, and I'd trade my R/T in on one in a heartbeat. The are certainly going to add weight with the redesign and ruin the current Dakota's almost perfect looks wich will offset my desire to get a Hemi Dakota, I'd rather just build up my good looking proven Dakota to be faster.
