Message: If scratche being easily visible on clear coat worries you, then I'd go with silver. The reason why scratches are harder notice on lighter colors is because there isn't much contrast between scratches on clear coat and the base color...
On black, it's a different story. Scratches on clear coat usually contrasts strongly against the darker color. It's like being able to see the burning stars in the dark sky.
Tim™
P.S. With black, you're able to see a lot more shine.

Black and chrome look real good.

Message: The black looks awesome when its clean. However, I've never seen such soft paint in all my life. My QC is a month old and is covered with scratches that are right down to the primer. White scratches look horrible on a black truck.

Message: I know this is off the subject but 12GA is right. When I picked up my QC with patriot blue I had them buff it 2 time before I took delivery. There were scratches everywhere from them washing it.
I have found that the colored Turtle wax actually works pretty good. But I swear these things scratch all by themselves.

Message: Black is beautiful but I think you will be happier in a year or two if you get the silver.
Unles you like to work out. You will be, buffing and waxing every few days. Just my opinion.....
Black and chrome is beautiful and always win shows with classic cars.

Message: I agree with xplikt, get the Graphite. I realize this wasn't one of your picks but it seems to fit well with the black and silver idea. It is easier to keep looking good then the black, but is more unique on an R/T like the silver.

Message: I love my black Dakota. Sure it shows all the dirt and scratches, but I love the color. I don't mind that much when it gets dirty, it shows it is a truck that isn't afraid to do the hard work. However, when I do want it to look nice, black looks better than any other color when it is shined up real nice!

Seriously, I just traded in my '00 S10 for my Dak, and it was black; it picked up scratches like they were going out of style. Yeah, my new truck is Patriot Blue, and not much better, but oh well.
Current mods: A MUFFLER. That's it. (For now.) Future mods: Tonneau cover Underdrive pulleys Removal of clutch fan K&N FIPK 17" rims And much, much more...

Message: I got the Dark Garnet Red paint on my 00 RC. I love the shine. And NO it doesnt scratch at all. It all depends on the cloth you use to wash it. I personaly like the color because NOBODY has it in a RC around here, or even in 2WD. Ive only seen 1, and its a Quad 4WD. The darkness really shines soo much with the pearl coat it has.

Message: Silver...as if my Quad Cab wasn't answer enough!!
Top 5 reasons I chose silver:
Doesn't show dirt as bad.
Doesn't show water spots or streaks nearly as bad.
Doesn't show towel lint.
Doesn't heat up to a million degrees during the summer.
Doesn't show scratches as bad.

Message: I personally like both, I own a Black Dakota, and she shines like a beauty. The best thing about black is you can get those light covers that are smoked and then tint your windows and get some other black accessories to add to your truck, and it looks sooo tyt. Also a thing to think about,... black looks perfect with chrome, and silver clashes with chrome, so ya,... do whatever you like the best man. tyt=tight

My silver SLT looks downright perfect (IMO). The addition of a pair of chrome traction bars only helped it. The Chrome grill+satin finish rims gives a look like sex: When it's good, it's really good; when it's bad, it's still pretty good.
