Ordered my truck on Feb 14th ... delivered to dealership on the night of March 8th (although they didn't bother to call me to let me know) ... and I'm picking it up tomorrow! Can't wait to experience what you all have been bragging about! hehehe
I'll post pics here when I'm done boltin' stuff on. Thanks to everybody that helped with my decision making!!!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS Blizzard! Enjoy your new baby & if you treat her right, she'll be good to you. I'm told my new truck, also ordered on Feb. 14th, is ready to be or is on a truck at the holding yard & should be on it's way to me. The holding yard is about 2-3hrs. away from the dealership. It will be here definately this week. My birthday is Mar. 25th ....what a gift.

You guys are getting your trucks in just about 4-5 weeks. That seems fast. I ordered mine on 2/24 and I was told it would take about 8 weeks. I actually wanted it to take that long only because thats when my current lease ends. I wonder if it is going to come in earlier than that. What part of the country are you guys in?

I'm in Michigan ... bout 90 miles from Warren (where most of the daks are built).
I read another post here somewhere from someone who ordered their truck on 2/21 and was told 2nd week in April before they'd see it. So I don't know what the holdup is now?

Drove it home tonight! Based on what the overhead computer told me, I averaged 15.8 MPG. And, OF COURSE, I had to put my foot into it a time or two! hehehe
So I was surprised to get that kind of mileage with my setup. We'll see how it fares out in the long run.
Damn ... I should've bought a Dakota a loooong time ago!! I'm very impressed!

Yeah, If I could only find a girl like my Dakota. Reliable, Beautiful,Sleek, Agile, and always there for me.
I actually compare mine to a boyhood dog. You grew up with it, became its friend, trust it, would hurt someone if they tried to mess with it. Take it hunting, and fishing, and camping. And hate being away from it. And never feel she will ever leave you.

Hey guy's.... I signed tuesday for a 2001 2wd Dak Qc 4.7 3.55 and im just waiting on financing to go thru. I should know today the dealer said. I tried out a 2000 from the showroom and 1 thing i did not like is the seat cussion. It seemed to be short. I did hammer it a few times and had great power compared to my 1999 Grand AM GT 3.4L RamAir. My dealer asked me about the 1000$ undercoating/scotch gard/teflon on paint. I was told it sales for 1032$ but he is givin it to me for 532$ which he told me is cost...(he is a very good friend of mine and the Finance director) (ALL Canadian Pricing) What do you guy's think of this teflon coat on the paint job? is it worth 532$ with scotch gard and undercoating?
The reason im waiting so long on the financing is that they found a R9 on a Canadian tire ca5rd my wife had 4 years ago! WHATEVER ! ! ! !

OK YOU GUYS ARE SO LUCKY. I ORDERED MY 01 QUAD CAB SPORT ON JANUARY 2ND AND ITS STILL NOT HERE YET. ITS BEEN ALMOST 10 WEEKS WHEN THEY SAID IT WOULD BE 6-8. ITS SUPPOSED TO BE DELIEVERED THIS WEEK BUT YOU KNOW THAT PROBALLY WONT HAPPEN. HOW COME YOU GUYS ARE GETTING YOURS SO FAST AND IM NOT. IS IT BECAUSE IM A GIRL OR SOMETHING. ONE THING IS THAT I WILL NEVER ORDER ONE AGAIN. I WANT MINE SO BAD I CANT WAIT ANY LONGER. AT LEAST YOU GUYS ARE ENJOYING YOURS. HAVE FUN.

I got my 97 CC Sport 4X4 used on Halloween night. I love it, it has 72000 miles on it and still runs as good as the 2001 I test drove.

Blizzard, hope you are having fun. Dakchic picked up her Dak today & mine is in, but can't get it until Tues.. can't hardly wait. (Went & visited it tonight.) I ordered mine on 2/14, but I live in eastern Pa. It really didn't take long to come in. Need to wait the extra days because of the farm bureau membership rebate.
Kitkat... I'm getting the undercoating,scotch guard & teflon paint sealant & it cost me about $550 so your friend isn't give you much of a break.

Congrats to all of you getting your trucks! I'm loving mine so far (with the exception of the sore body parts I'm getting from lying on the concrete garage floor boltin' shtuff on! hehe)
Is the teflon paint sealant what they call "auto armor"? They talked me into that at the last minute. Told me there is only 1 pint of paint on the truck (which I was skeptical of, but didn't have time to check out their story) and that the "auto armor" would protect it from acid rain, bird droppings, etc etc.

You Gals and Guys are very lucky. I ordered my Dakota on Feb. 19th, 2001 and was told that it would probably take 6-8 weeks. And was also told that it could come in, in about 4 weeks. Haven't seen it yet. Still waiting. Live in Illinois. Wish there was a way to track it being built and stuff.

There is a way to track your order. Your salesman should be able to provide you with an order number or your truck's VIN number. Once you have one or the other, call 1-800-992-1997. Step through the prompts til you get a customer service agent. Tell them you want to check the status of your 2001 Dakota order. They were very helpful when I called. Good luck!

MY DEALERSHIP WOULDNT GIVE MY VIN NUMBER UNTIL IT CAME TO THE DEALERSHIP SO I COULDNT FIND MINE OUT. PLUS IT SHOVED EVERYTHING BACK FURTHER FOR MY FINANCING IT SUCKED.

If your dealer has placed the order for your Dak, he will have a V.O.N. (Vehicle Order Number) that he got from the factory. Don't let him tell you that he does not have one. I got my V.O.N. the same day the order was placed to the factory from the delaer. He may not have the V.I.N., but he will have the V.O.N.. Insist that he give this to you. Once you have it, you can call the number mentioned in the previous post in this thread.

I called my dealer and asked for the order number . He looked up my order for me and it is being shipped now. I should have it in at least 2 days. I am happy!!!
