Message: Mills,
The Mobil 1 web site ("www.mobil1.com") has
a lot of interesting information. I think you'll find
the answer to your question there.
If you would like to see a comparison study of
oil filters, check out
"www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/oil_filter_study/".
I was using Mobil 1 oil and the Mopar filter but
after looking at this study, I now use Mobil 1 oil
and a Mobil 1 filter.
I don't notice any difference using the "high
priced spread" but It feel good knowing I've
done something to excess.

Message: I have used Castrol 5-30 in my 1994 3.9 it has 106k on it. I replaced valve cover gaskets on it last week and it was very clean inside. I have used this in every car that I have had over the past 10 years and Fram oil filter. I haven't tried the synthetic. I do use synthetic in my lower unit in my outboard motor in my boat that was used in it when I first got it and the boat mechanic says it good to use.

Message: if you change your oil every 3k, almost any oil will do. but if you get a little lazy and go like 6k, go to a synthetic

Message: Guys this what i do for a living and i must tell you that synthetics are worth the money but everyone has their opinions. Mobil 1 15/50 is what i use in my Dakota and my Ricer uses 10/30 and i have to say that the added protection is a piece of mind since i cant always follow how many miles the wifey drives. I drive 80 miles a day and she burns a half a Quart every 5000 miles and the Honda doesnt burn a damn bit and she has gone atleast 8000 on a number of times. By the way if you guys would like a little more filteration try the oil filter that the V-10s run the FRAM # is PH4875 if you dont like frams cross reference it with your Brand just make sure you have enough room.
