Actually, I've seen numerous tests and it appears that the results vary by the truck tested and how it was equipped.

I have a 01 Dakota Quad Cab.4x4, 4.7 auto. I put a A.R.E. Tonneau cover on it, mainly for security and looks not to improve gas mileage. But I figured if it helped the MPG then that would just be a bonous. I did check mileage before and after installation. I did not see any differance. If there was a differance it had to be less than 1 mpg. I am curious has anyone else done this comparison ?. What were your results.

I have a 2001 CC 3.9 4x4 and put an ARE tonneau cover on like you for security and looks. Again, like you I noticed MAYBE (and that's a big maybe) a 1-1.5MPG difference (depending on where I am driving). I thought it may get me more than that, but it hasn't. I have been very happy with the ARE cover though.
