I had this stuff put on my truck. It is a clear protectant (3M paint protectant film) that is applied to parts of your hood, bumper...anywhere to prevent rock chips and dings. Tired of being caught behind a gravel truck, chringing at ever piece of gravel that hits your precious piece of art?? This stuff kicks a$$. The guy sold me on it when he threw his keys (really hard) against his car that had the stuff. No ding or chip. After he put it on, I couldn't even tell it was there by looking at it. I also had some put on the rear wheel well and flairs to stop the rubber boogers from sticking.

If you live in Dallas/ Ft. Worth area, I know a guy that will get you a deal super cheap. If you don't believe that this stuff works, then go to:

http://www.3m.com/US/auto_marine_aero/auto/pdf/holdingfast_no16.pdf

If you are interested, email me and I'll give you the shops number to call.

It is gauranteed not to fade paint or discolor or crack. If you wanted to remove it, all you have to do is go to the installation shop and they can take it off in like 20 minutes.

You can prolly do it your self if you can find it. It is like putting on tint. The shop that I went to charged $150

Was it $150 total, and how much did they put on for that price, I'm about to paint and install a "Ram-Air" hood and that would be good stuff to make sure it doesn't get chipped up as fast as my windshield has lately.

How does it look and react to hand and random orbiter washing and waxing? Sounds like a great product!! I wish they had a test on there to see if it held up to "Moron In Parcking Lot Who Parked To Close" and the dreaded "Wild North American Shopping Cart"!!! Keep me informed on this if you can. Thanks!

You can totally put it on the door edges and areas prone to door dings. When I say this stuff is a ding deterrant, it is. The guy showed me how good the stuff was by throwing his key (quite hard) onto his hood....not a scratch or ding on it. You can barely notice it is on there too. there is only a faint line. I'll take a pic soon to show ya.

I'm assuming they can do the entire rocker panel area too?(If that's what they call the area below the molding on my truck) That area of my truck is just covered in little chips.

Ok guys, this stuff is nowhere near a new idea or anything. It's just a clear sticker that can either be purchased in a roll or a sheet. it's the thickness of a heavy vinyl sticker and works very well and is extremely easy to put on. It is as dummy proof as it gets. About the only way I know to discolor it is to use gas to clean it(I did it removing tar). Bug and tar remover works just fine on it. Darker color vehicles have to be careful not to get wax at the edges because the white residue will show. I bought mine at my local speed shop here 2 years ago for 20 bucks. That was more than enough for my truck, my streetbike, and my yzf250. This stuff has been around for quite awhile, atleast 12 years that I know of.

type 3m scotchcal in the search window at top left and it will take you right to it. It's pretty cheap.
