Message: I work with a guy that has a 93 V6 Dakota with 289,000 miles on the orgianal engine and A/trans. His brothers Dak has 250,000 and his dad has 298,000 on his. They all have orginal engines trans. I just thought I would pass this along. I told everyone I would find out what year his was. All of these trucks are extended cab's and 4x4.

Message: Well his brother and fathers were owned since new so yes well maintained. My co-worker on the other hand bought his used off a farmer. It had 200,000 when he bought it. The rear towing hitch was broken at all the weld points. The origanal owner was a farmer so it saw alot of hard use. He changes the oil regularly but he said he did not service the trans. until he had put 70,000 on it. The engine still runs strong but burns alot of oil and the trany is slipping. It is still a good sign though. 289,000 is very respectable for a light duty truck. If the trany hold out he is sure that he will have 300,000 on it in about 5 months. The only American made trucks that I have seen routinely go over 300,000 with origanly power train are the Dodge Rams with the Cummin turbo diesel.
