Subject: Bronze color not available ?

Hello everyone,
Wow, what a Dak site. Tons on information and a killer forum area. Added link to the top of my favorites list. Got to love it.

I am soon to be an owner of a 2001 Dak QC 4X4. It will be loaded with the 4.7 motor, leather, etc.

It payed to do my homework on this one. I will be getting it for 1650.00 below factory invoice. Not worried about the April 2000.00 rebate dead line. I have a sales contract with the dealer. It works two ways as far as I am concerned. We are both obligated at this time.

The more I read this page, the more excited I get about it. Can't wait to get it. I was out shopping for accessories yesterday. All I need to do is find a way to install them without the wife noticing.

The dealer placed my order with DC on friday (3/8/01). I wanted it with the two tone bronze. The dealer called and told me that color is no longer available. Does anyone have any contact info at DC to find out whass up with this ? I am forced to choose another color at this time. Really irritated the hell out of me. Any leads would be greatly appreciated. Also, any ideads on the current lead time at the factory ?

Thanks in adavance guys,
Roger

BTW,
Newbie question. What does CC mean ?

When I went to order my 2001 Dakota CC (Club Cab) 4x4 on Feb. 14th the dealer told me Amber Fire was dropped so it wouldn’t surprise me if the bronze is also gone.

Club Cab I think, just like how yours is QC, that stands for quad cab. If your wife catches you sneaking parts on at 2:00 AM in the garage, just tell her that everything you do to it will make a big differance in gas milage. Thats also true, that is if you don't drive it like you'll stole it.

Kris,
I didn't think of that (CC). It's funny you mention the wife. She asked why I picked up a Four Wheeler mag yesterday. I told her I was looking for the best price on a Cat Back system. I also told her it will end up costing nothing over time with the improved gas mileage. She just shook her head and gave me an humm humm.

I called DC this morning and asked who I needed to whine to about getting the bronze paint job. I was told basically, I could whine all day long and it wouldn't do me any good. I guess I will have to settle for the two tone white. Maybe not a bad idea as we get alot of salt on the roads when it snows here in Salt Lake City. It won't show the dirt as bad until I get to the car wash.

Roger,

Tell me--how did you get $1650 below invoice, when there don't appear to be any dealer rebates, you weren't considering the $2000 consumer rebate, and dealer's holdback is only 3%?? Where is the money coming from ??

Roger,
One place to look at parts with out having to buy and hide the magazines is www.truckperformance.com. This is were I get most of my parts, also check some of the links on this site.

HondaVFR,
The way I figured $1650 (actually 1609.00) under invoice is this:
The total for the truck is 26886.00 invoice (29785.00 MSRP). My price is 27277.00 - 2000.00 (rebate) = 25277.00. (26886.00 - 25277.00 = 1609.00). Or did I figure this wrong by including the rebate into my calculation (27277 - 26886 = 391)and pay 391.00 over invoice ? You can bet if I figured this bass ackward, I'll forget to tell the wife this one. Could seriously slow down the "add ons" process.

Kris,
Thanks for the info. I'll check it out.

Roger

My truck stickered at over $30k ... I used autobytel.com and took the $2k rebate. My final price was just over $25k ... well, $27k when you figure in tax, title, plate and they swapped out the Goodyears for BFG tires for me. Anyone thinking of buying a Dak? Check with autobytel before you buy from a dealer!! They were WELL below what my local dealership would've given me!
