does anyone know if the tonneau covers and roll'n locks that fit gen 3 daks will also fit gen 2 daks or are they different size found a gen 3 at a local car lot and was going to offer the guy something for the roll'n'lock on it for my gen 2

I think I remember the dealer I got my Roll N Lock from saying the newer dakotas have a slight arc to the bed rails so it doesn't fit. It was several years back though, so he may have said it was the Rams. One of them has an arc. Why not take some measurements?

I just purchased a cover call Retrax Roll Top. I have a 2002 Dokota QC. It looks amazing. Very functional and takes up less bed space than the Roll N Lock. Only complaint I have is that it could scratch easily. If you give them a call they will tell you all you need to know. Very nice people. go to www.rolltopcover.com

Not to sound like i'm selling the product or anything but rool and lock just came out with a "carbon fiber" top. I would much rather have that over the vinal covering because i think it would hide dirt better, and it looks reall different. I doubt they make them for your application, but it used to be that the rool n locks were solid aluminum anodized with no vinal covering. very strong, could support 300 pounds.

you mentioned that you have a retrax bed cover, and you said that you thought it could scratch easily. well, that was three months ago, and i was wondering if you have had any problems with it so far, be it scratches, mechanical binding, etc.
i have been researching roll-top covers and can't decide between the rollnlock from pace edwards or the retrax cover. any advice you have to give would be grand.

i have seen the roll and lock and it looks ok to me, one thing the saleman told me is they do leak a little around the tailgate area. and they are expensive. the nice part about them is they roll to the front allowing u to put stuff in the bed of the trk that u can not do with hard cover type they do appear to be well constructed.just my humble opinion.
