ok, i was putting on my new grille today...and the wheels of course started turning. since i currently only have the stock intake (plus k&n drop in), i was wondering..... you know that little elbow that comes out of the filterbox (not sure if that is the technical name for the box that the filter sits in...) and sits right up next to the fenderwell? would it be helpful to cut that s.o.b. off so that perhaps a little more air could go in there? im just sort of trying to bide my time until i can save (um...ok, hide from the wife) enough money to get a new intake. would there be any benefit at all?

god im bored

I was sitting there yesterday with my buddy asking the EXACT same thing...there's GOT to be some benefit, even if only a small one.

Current mods: A MUFFLER. That's it. (For now.)
Future mods: Tonneau cover
Underdrive pulleys
Removal of clutch fan
K&N FIPK
17" rims
And much, much more...

If you do that you might want to remove the rubber flap on the left side of the radiator it deflects the air into the fender well.

poor mans cold air kit :)

Or you could just pull on it real hard like it did. It pops right out, and slides back in real easy.

Poor man's Ram-Air.

With some flexible 4" vent pipe (aluminum dryer vent pipe/ducting from home depot) attach one end where the plastic elbow was (filter box) and form the other end directly behind the recently removed rubber flap (pass side of radiator).

Don't forget! When it rains just re-direct the ducting, so not to ram rain air into intake.
