 Subject: Quad Cab bed movement

I'm really getting tired of the bed movement, which seems to be pretty violent on the highway. Even the slightest bumps on the highway will cause the bed to move up and down--bad enough that to make it sound like I'm gargling mouthwash whenever I'm talking during a conversation. Is this normal for all the other Quad Cab owners?
I'm beginning to wish that Dodge could improve the smooth ride a bit better...

All beds have movement, what is your tire air preassure? should be like mine for a comfy ride, front 35lbs rear 32 lbs. if you have 40 psi or more no wonder why you have a rough ride. 40 psi in rear is for maximum load in bed. with bed empty 32 psi is the ticket.

Hey Tim,
Just outta curiosity- do you have your bed exposed? Or do you have a cover of some sort on it? Reason I ask is that if your on the highway and have no cover then every little bit of wind from any direction is gunna catch not only the body of your truck but the inside of the box too- my suggestion, put some type of cover on it or if your traveling down the highway without a load then drop your tailgate- drive with it down.

You need to check your bed bolts out for tightness. My bed moves a bit too but not enough to make sound. The reason our beds move so much is because the trucks are long and dodge had to build flex into the frame. It's not that its weak it's just doing what it was designed to do. I know all of the quad beds move a bit but definately not enough to make noises.

Just behind the rear bumper (between the bumper & the spare tire), there is a long cylindrical tube that runs between the frame rails. Per the FSM, "Additionally, the Quad Cab uses a mass dampener located between the frame rails immediately forward of the rear bumper. This damper is used to address NVH issues." (BTW, NVH stands for Noise, Vibration, and Harshness)
On my 2K Quad Cab, that dampener has a springy movement to it (i.e. if you twist it one way, it will spring back to its original position). I would check that out. If it seems fine and you still have a complaint, get the dealer to check it out.

Thanks to everyone who responded. About the tire pressure, I do not know what it is... I'll have to check it out.
Regarding the bed being exposed, yes, it is exposed. I suppose putting the opening the tailgate is an option?
And, regarding checking under the bed, I'll do that also.
I'll keep you updated.

Also remember that the cab is most likely on rubber chassis mounts, so it could be moving while the bed is staying still (in reference to the frame)
