Subject: V8 TB swap NOW gauges don't work
IP: Logged

Message:
I did the swap on my V6 and everything went fine and I reset the PCM after completion. The only problem I ran into was, after I reset the PCM my gauges stopped working. The needles do not move at all, but the "dummy lights" come on and stay on.

I have no gauges at all or my odometer. No tac, no speedo, no gas, no volts, no oil!

Just wondering if you guys could help me out any. I've checked a few fuses and NOTHING!

I'm just out of ideas of what it could be. I took the dash off and checked the connection behind the gauge cluster and it looked fine.

Thanks Greatly. And any help would be sincerely appreciated

well guys i found the problem. I reset the PCM by taking the negative battery cable off and holding the key forward for about 30 seconds.

But that had nothing to do with it. It was a stupid fuse. And I think the fuse was mislabeled. The fuse labeled "Cluster" checked out OK, I think it's #11

But I looked at #16 and it was labeled spare and it didn't and never had a fuse in it and it always ran perfect.

After putting a fuse in the empty "Spare" slot, It fired up and worked like a charm!

Boy, what an odd problem.

Just don't know why it would work all along and then need a fuse all of a sudden

thanks anyways guys!

AH! I spoke too soon. Now it's not working again.
I had it working, washed the truck....then stopped again!

I've checked all the fuses, i may pick up a few tomorrow and replace some of them.
Or I may have to take it somewhere and get someone to check the computer I guess.

thanks, my bad luck continues!
