Subject: Purchasing the M1

I need to replace my belly pan gasket so I'm optioning for the M1 instead to resolve this from happening again and increase performance. I know they are on back order so guess I'll be crusing on my motorcycle for awhile.

First question. I saw a few people who have said you need to run premium (92) gas if you install the M1. Can anyone clarify this for me? Not sure if I want to install this thing if I need to buy super all the time.

Second, here's some info I've gatherd on purchasing one of these things over the net. Anyone had any problems or praise from buying the M1 from any of these vendors? Suggestions for other vendors are indeed welcome as well.

http://store.summitracing.com/ $259.95

www.manciniracing.com $329.95
installation kit is $60

http://www.krcperformance.com $425.00 complete with gaskets

www.worldwideperformanceparts.com $514.00 (includes all gaskets) add the Turtle $47

Havnt heard anything from Summit or Mancini
Marty over at KRC swears by the M1, Randy over at WWP actually is giving you the 4bbl M1 instead of the 2bbl. Thats why WWP is more. Also Randy has all the machine work and other tid-bits done to it before you get it so that all you have to do is bolt it in. The 4bbl is more for a blown application to allow more flow of coarse. I would most likely go through Marty or randy for the Item because they will back up the product with professionalism and all the help you need for the install if you need it. Randy's kit comes witha 4bbl to 2bbl adapter so it will work with the 2bbl TB. Just depends on what you want to spend. last I heard Randy had a couple more of the M1's available.

Thanks Adam.... those were my two choices as well after reading the tens and thousands of threads. I hope more people will comment on this thread who have bought one and installed it. I think I saw only one person who actually installed the thing. He then replied to his own thread as to how much he liked the M1 but he didn't comment on where he got it from or if he was missing parts...etch. I think there should be forums for the individual parts we want to buy or forums by vendors on this web site. So confusing to search 50 million threads and try to peacemail them all together.

I recently purchased the M1 from Bernd of Speedtweaks, but delays in shipping had me contacting Randy of WWP instead.

The M1 I purchased has already been installed, and it is well worth the cost.

To answer your question, you do not have to use premium gas at all if you install the M1. Since the M1 has been installed on my Dak, I've used nothing but the lowest grade gasoline.

You can purchase the M1 from any Chrysler dealership (I've heard rumours that DC has filled out the backorders already). You can also purchase the package from Speedtweaks or WWP. The 2bbl M1 is not listed on WWP's website, you have to contact Randy personally and ask him about it, same with Bernd.

If you buy from Bernd/Randy, they are asking $375.00 shipped (Bernd only charged me an extra $5.00 to ship to Canada). The package includes the M1, gaskets from the manifold to the heads, and the install kit. You'll have to get the TB and t-stat gaskets yourself.

Awesome post McClane. I'll be getting with Bernd since I'm here in Texas. Did you install that yourself? I'm some what mechanically inclined but always manage to break a bolt off or something screwy like that. Hard to do?

I just bought an M1 2bbl from John Mercedes at www.southeastrt.com - $375 shipped including the kit and gasket set. I ordered it on monday, and the whole set arrived in my hands this morning.

Any of the guys who work with the Dakota/Durango websites go beyond the call of duty to hook everyone up and I try to buy or refer everything through them whenever possible.

Here's their websites, no particular order
www.southeastrt.com - John Mercedes
www.speedtweaks.net - Bernd Ratsch
www.worldwideperformanceparts.com - Randy Pile
www.krcperformance.com - Marty
www.premier-automotive.net - Jonas Janek

I lack the tools and expertise to install the M1 correctly, so I took it in to my long time trusted garage for install. They did a great job on it.

The M1 does come with an instruction sheet, and describes (no pics though) what holes need to be plugged up, whether your vehicle has EGR or not and what to do, ...

I don't have anything negative to say about the M1, only that Chrysler should have used the M1 as standard equipment on the 5.2/5.9s rather than the beer keg manifold.

I also have the M1 on and it is great. Don't know that the fuel would have anything to do w/ the manifold but I could be wrong. Only parts they left out was maybe a longer hose for the brake booster. I used a reducer cuz the hose was too big for one of the vacuum ports. Got mine at WWP for $375 shipped and kit.

Thanks for responding everyone. As always this board rocks. It looks like $375 is the best rate which includes all the goodies from WWP.

Hey Eric (kota on 20s) I'll be getting with you once I have this in my hot little hands. I always like to attempt things. Worse case scenario is put it all back together the way it was and then take it somewhere. Question for you? Your "Dumped Gibson" does that mean you got rid of it? I have one on my truck and I was just curious. If so why?

Thanks again everyone !!!!
