Last summer when it got really humid my air conditioner started smelling like an old sweat sock. I took it to the dealer and they sprayed some antibacterial stuff down the intake vents. Worked for about 3 weeks. Needless to say I had to return for a re-application several times (it’s very humid here in the Ohio River valley during the summer). According to the dealer the evaporator box drain is not big enough to handle the amount of moisture condensed. As of last September the dealer said Dodge does not yet have a fix.

Two questions:
1. Has anyone else experienced this?
2. Does anyone know of a fix?

Summer is coming and my warranty in running out!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's common. I turn my AC on full blast, windows down and spray Lysol in the cowl air intake vents(half can).
Usually need to do it twice a year.
There is some kind of professional system to drill small holes in your cooling vent system and pressuerize it using an anti bacterial at $120-150 a shot.

There's a TSB out on this since 1997. Take it to the dealer and complain about it. Tell them you know about the TSB.

There was a post a while ago about an AC drain tube that was susceptable to blockage. I'd imagine if that was backed up it would contribute to a musty smell in the cab of the truck.

Check out this post for information on the
Smell coming from the A/C.

It appears that the Condensor drainage hose can become blocked, and then can cause a smell and eventual damage to the condenser coil.

Handi2,
Do you have the TSB number? I went to the link you posted, but Bill Gates wanted my email address (already get enough spam). Or, maybe you could copy the text and paste it here.

Thanks for your help.
