I have a new 02 Dakota and have questions regarding the operation of the cargo light, the owners manual devotes only a couple of lines to the subject.
Does the light come on any time other than when the dash switch is rotated to the upper position, are they supposed to come on when the doors are opened, when the remote is used to unlock the doors, only when the vehicle is is neutral or park, mine seem to be very erratic and I am not sure what the proper operation is. I don't want the dealer fixing something that is not broken.

It comes on when you unlock the doors with your remote, rotate the switch, but not when you open the door.
