Subject: rim stuck & oil press. IP: Logged
Message: i went to adjust my rear brakes today (easy enough of job) got the driver side done no problem but when i got to the passenger side the idiots at the tire shop put the lugs on to tight(about a year ago) and now my rim is frozen to the drum. could anybody tell me how to get it off w/out pounding the living crap out of my rim? also i changed my oil a couple of weeks ago and i was on a road trip the other day and noticed that my oil pressure is running to high. it usualy runs around the half to 3/4 mark now it's on first high mark. any suggestions? 96 3.9

Message: I would not worry about the high oil preassure, its when it drops to be concerned. As for the wheel, remove the lug nuts, and grasp the tire top and bottom and move back and forth vigouresly, what happened is the wheel corroded to the axle. aluminum and steel together through time corrode, nothing to worry about. I am sure you will free it ok. torque nuts to 90-100 FT LBS.

Message: i tried grabbing at top and bottom and side to side. i even tried pounding on the back side of the rim and hub with no luck. i also tried pounding on the center of the drum while having someone else jiggled the tire.

Message: Try this first. put the logs on 3/4 of the way.
Drive the vehicle. Dont go far or too fast. I did
this trick on my moms prelede. Rims still
wouldnt budge but its worth a shot.

Message: tried that too. went down to autozone (about 5 or 6 blocks) its still on there tight. i hit some pretty big potholes too my alley is a mess. i can see where the lugs imbeded themselves into the rim, theres a nice scar where each of them were at.

Message: You could chew your studs up that way. Try unbolting lug nuts then hit raised tire from the outside (safest way) with a big log or chunk of 6x6. You want something with some beef to it but no sharp edges to damage the tire. The principle of leverage will work wonders for you and no heat to damage brake parts or finish on rim.
