Subject: CC Rear Speaker Install IP: Logged
Message: someone ("Jason&Sarah"?) had dropped a teaser that they'd replaced the club cab speakers on a new-model Dakota. I'll be doing this in Spring as well, and I'd like to know how involved it is. He'd said it was a pain. Yeah, it looks like it would be...
Reply off-list if you like (if it is long...)
Thanks!

Message: I did my speakers this past fall. My reccomendation is to find a good stereo shop and have them install your speakers. Shops I've talked to will charge around $100 for all 4 speakers. After installing mine myself, I wish I wasn't such a tightwad. The doors are easy. the rear speakers are a pain. Removing the plastic trim isn't easy, and its very easy to break some of the clips and push pins used to hold it all together. Sitting in the back seat trying to do this isn't fun either. If you would like some details, email me direct and I can tell you all the fun. I also have the crutchfield installation directions for the club cab '00 Dakota, I could probably scan them and send them out if you are really interested.

Message: I didn't find it too difficult changing the rear speakers. You just hve to be careful when removing the panels. By doing it myself, I also may have found a place to mount some subwoofers. Have a club cab and do not want to lose the rear seats for subwoofers.
