Subject: Problem with Idle...
IP: Logged

Message:
Sometimes when I start up my truck, it will turn over, idle for about 1 second, then completely die. In order to keep it running, if I hold the revs up at about 1000 for like 30 seconds, then the engine will idle fine.
Its a 1999 5.2L auto with only 36k on it. Any help is appreciated. thanks a lot...oh any recommendations as to where the optimal setting for the IAT adjuster is? I just put it on :)

Did you just put the adjuster on? I had the same problem with mine when i first put it on. I rechecked all of the wiring and retwisted everything in the barrel connectors. I also had to watch the extension pieces I put on to make it reach the center console. After I readjusted everything I haven't had a problem since.
It would start right up but without revving it would just die out.

Yeah, your problem sounds EXACTLY like mine. Yes, I had just installed the IAT adjuster. I didn't add any extensions so that is out of the picture, and also the barrel connectors are tight as can be. Maybe it takes some time for the computer to adjust, i dunno. It only died a few times, but enough to make me a lil worried.
