 Subject: '02 Dak Front Tow Hooks

Anyone put tow hooks on the front of their '02 Dak? Where can they be found? I've got a couple straight 10K pound hooks, but the holes in the bumper are way too low. It almost looks like I'd need a right angle hook.
Any help would be appreciated.

Well I finally got my scanner working so I now have the picture of my bracket that I made for the tow hooks on my truck. If you want to check it out click on the picture below. But... I am claiming NO RESPONSIBILITY if this bracket doesn't work the way you want it to. Even though this worked on my truck measure your truck or make a piece out of wood first to see if it's going to work the way you want it to. I'd suggest 1/4" Steel for the final product although I think 1/8" will work fine.

The reason they didn't put tow hooks on the Dakotas is that they did for quite some time, and they eventually realized that no one was getting stuck in them. So, we really didn't need them. It saved them a buck or two, and now, when our Ford/Chevy friends get stuck, we can just say -- "Sorry man, my truck doesn't have tow hooks." They'll say "well that's a piece of crap truck, who doesn't put tow hooks on?" and just tell them the reason why, and politely remind them whose stuck -- then ask them which truck is the piece of crap.

Yeah I noticed they started putting the holes into the bumpers on the 02+ Dakota/Durangos for tow hooks. My 2001 truck has those holes since I had to purchase a brand new bumper after a Ford ran into me. Hahaha Ford was totalled by my front bumper! Im thinking about just putting lights where the tow hooks should be.

handi2, is your truck a 2wd? Being that you dropped it, I would assume that it is. That's bull if it is and it came with tow hooks. Not that I need them, but when I pulled my buddy's f150 the other day, I tied to my rear bumper mount (bent it a little actually).
Mine's a 01 SLT PLUS 4x4 with EVERY available option except heated mirrors.

Yes I have front tow hooks inside the front bumper holes. And Yes, it is a 2wd w/every option.
