Who cares if a taco is a little faster than your dakota? Last i heard it was called driving to work and not racing there. It boils down to one thing, one reason not to buy a taco. Speed isn't everything. Those new beetle turbo S's have a 0-60 of like 6 seconds or something. Thats fast, but guys look pretty feminine driving em. Ask any MAN and I think they will all agree that tacos are THE girliest trucks made...ever. I would rather drive a ford or chevy because I know girls won't be laughing at me as I drive by in a truck they think is "cute". Bottom line is buy a MAN'S truck, stay away from tacos.

Well the truth of the matter is Jon that the "Dak" is just as much a pansies truck as a Tacoma.A real truck is full size.

I dunno, somehow the Dak manages to look bigger than it actually is, unless you park it next to a RAM, which looks positivily huge. It looks less toy-ish than an S10, although the Nissan I saw yesterday looked pretty mean. Tacoma's are actually ok trucks in my opinion, but there is just something about the Dodge line of trucks, I think it's called 'style'. Why else would other manufacturers be trying to immitate the body style? Just look at the new Fords and Chevies, definate Dodge styling hints there, I think.
True, it's not a full size truck... but it's not a mini truck either. It's kind of inbetween, a true midsized. You can fit an unbelievable amount of cargo in one of these things (27 bales of hay don't lie), and hook a fairly large trailer to it too. I figure it's got the best of both worlds, maybe it's not the best in all departments but it's a mid-sized truck (easier to manauver in traffic and park) with great styling that many companies are copying, has a decently powerful V6 and two V8s if your interested, can pull a respectable trailer, and you can put lots of stuff in the bed. It is, in short, a truck's truck.
I'm sure there are those who disagree, I don't care, if I cared about everyone elses opinion I would never get anything done and would be a nervous wreck.

Hey, you don't have to have a full size truck to be a man. You just can't drive a girl truck (tacoma). You can be a man and drive a car too, just stay away from sedans and station wagons. That is unless you are someones grampa, then you can drive whatever.

Jon - I drove two pre "taco" toy mini p'ups for 15 years. Not as charismatic or as powerful as my dak to be sure, but they hauled my tools to work quite reliably and kept great resale value. It's not what you drive that makes you a man.

Hey i used to have a 2.2 S-10. I'm just messin around. Don't worry we have been forgiven for our misled small truck pasts :). I guess I was just saying don't worry about who is faster. Just enjoy your dakota for what it is. You want fast go buy a motorcycle or something. You wanted a truck so enjoy your dakota!

Good enough - actually I bought it because I wanted a fast truck and am working on making it quicker. Have a quick bike too or I could never have endured toyotas for so long, but hitting a deer that jumped out at you in a turn can take some of the fun out of that !
