Message: Sounds like its black. If it is its very tricky next to impossible to keep it looking perfect. However a good quality polish/wax and some really soft buffing rags should help. Becarefull how you wash it and avoid scrubbing in circles.

Message: Mine is garnet and it also scratches very easily. There isn't very much clearcoat on it thats for sure. It dosn't take much to completely go through the paint all the way to the primer. I have a 2001 quad by the way.

Message: Same problem with the 02 Patriot Blue. Scratches way to easy. There is no excuse. I have had dark colors before with no problem.
I have a 93 Cadillac Allante in Polo Green (dark) and the finish is hard as a rock with no problems ever with the finish.

Message: For some reason the paint that Dodge uses is very soft. I had to have the driver side repainted cause someone keyed it. The shop that I went to uses PPG, the driver side has a couple of new scratches on it, but not as bad as before.

Both. I got my new truck about a month ago and have been waxing it almost every weekend ever since. So far, I have scratched several, but they are hard to notice... Even if you take extra excellent care of it, you are still going to get scratches. I figured if I gave it my best shot, then it's good enough and I should live with it.

Message: I have used Meguiars Clear Coat Body Scrub to successfully clean up small scratches in the clear coat. the product is easy to apply and works well with a little elbow grease.
If the scratches are through to the paint, t will not help.
I also defend the finish with several coats of Zaino, this helps a lot.

Message: Guys, From what I've been told,it's because they have to use water based paints and clearcoats instead of the much harder solvent based, you can thank the EPA for this one! Also be very careful of bird droppings, they will eat right thru...
For small scratches, try using "Clay Magic" clay bar.Don't use the "mothers" brand,it's not as good. The CM will leave a great shine after waxing. It will take about an hour to clay bar your truck.
