Subject: NEED HELP WITH BRAKES IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2001 CC 4.7 flame red dakota, It now has 16000 miles on it and I believe the owner befoe me was really hard on the brakes. Any being on a budget, and not liking anyone else touching my truck, Id like to replace my brake pads myself. I have done lots of other work on trucks but have yet to replace brake pads. Can someone give me a run-through of how to do it. Also any tips or hints, things to watch out for, and which pads should I buy???
thanks

Message: If you have never done brakes and never saw brakes changed, you shouldnt attemp to change them yourself. Although it is fairly simple for the discs, drums are a little more difficult. You will need to take off the discs and drums and bring them to a shop to have them cut anyway.
I would have a buddy help you (if possible) or just bring it in. Try getting some ifo at the library or on the net.
