21 and a Sergeant in the Marine Corps... try doing this, work 50-60 hours a week, take 3 college classes (upper level), and be a dakota enthusiast... it's rough, but being at the Dragway seems to be my only releif... too bad it's only one day a week... *sigh*

Well ya see alex, that is why carrying a gun should be a "choice"...
Have always carried a gun on me and in my car. Lived in Miami and used it once on a guy that held up a convenience store except I was in there too, in the back. He simply shot the clerk, and headed to the register, when he spotted me. I already had mine out and was not going to shoot, but he did not say anything and aimed at me and at that point, I shot him twice. It was me or him, I preferred him.
In Atlanta, a guy hopped into a truck to carjack, only he did not see until he was in that I had a revolver pointed at him..at which point he started to cry, yes cry...I told him to get the f**k out of my truck..and he did and I went on my way.
You do not have to carry or own a gun, that is for sure, just do not deny the rest of us the best tool to defend ourselves and our families. That is what a gun is, a self defense too, that is why cops carry them, to defend themselves. You make a statement that if you owned a gun you would kill everything in sight until you were killed..what an idiot.

I live in Atlanta, too. For 30 years now (not counting college in Raleigh and grad school in Athens). But I have made it a point to not be in a position where I have ever needed a gun. There are ways to live like that.
I am not denying anyone the right to carry a weapon. If someone needs to have a weapon, then that's their lifestyle. Go forth. Live.
I am also not claiming that I would kill "everything in sight." I am just telling you, that the way I handle Atlanta traffic........ well, when you have a gun, you'll always think about using it. And the more you think about using it, the more likely you are to use it.
I don't feel like going down on a murder rap because some dipsh!t in the left lane can't seem to go any faster than 68 mph.
Therefore for everyone else's safety, I don't carry a gun.

I'm 33 and a sales engineer for an internet company. I follow the sales reps around and help to close the deal by answering any technical or design questions... not really work as much as acting like 'ask jeeves'
I have a terrific wife & two very fun boys (3 years / 4 months)
my favorite hobby is my KTM EXC 300, but the boys have taken precedence for now...

alex, I agree, I think it is best that someone who drives around thinking about using his gun all the time best does not have one..for that matter, I wish you did not have a driver's license either...since cars kill a lot more people than guns do.
I never "put myself" in a position to "need" a gun either but if you think you can live in a soupcan, think again. Trust me, while you are out there in Atlanta traffic, a lot of bad people are out there with you, (high carjacking and theft rates in Atlanta), so you will always be "in a bad position" whether you like it or not.
Because I carry a gun and keep one in the car, I do not go around, "thinking about using it." I agree, it really is best that you do not carry a gun.

As for revoking my D.O.T.-given right to drive through Atlanta like a crazy f*cker.... well, you can have my driver's license when you pry it from my cold, dead hand.
Maybe some of us level-headed Dakota owners should band together and start some sort of a nationwide "car control" campaign (since cars kill more people than guns).

Duner brings a good point.
Sometimes a burnout induces a certain "sideways" attitude to the vehicle in relation to the little white stripes on the asphalt. When this begins to occur, I usually activate my turn signal just incase the rear portion of my vehicle decides to stay over there in that other lane for a few hundred feet. It's just courtesy, in my opinion.

driving is NOT a right, it is a privilege. A right is protected by the constitution. A privilege is earned by proving yourself...
I'm not trying to start anything with Alex, but I hate people that think they have the RIGHT to drive any way they want. Like the people that think they have the right to be in-front of me and will squeeze their car into the 8 feet I leave in between the car in front of me... I am going to kill one of these leap frogger some day, gun or no gun.

The Cherokee County Youth Basketball League has banned two women from games after police say they had a confrontation that involved a gun. One of the mothers is facing two misdemeanor charges in connection with the incident.
The two mothers -- Julie Box and Nancy Horton -- argued last Friday night after their 11-year-old daughters were involved in a shoving match after a game, according to police.
Horton approached Box's vehicle in the parking lot at Mountain Road Elementary School to discuss the incident, police said.
Box, 37, of Woodstock, brandished a Ruger .38 caliber revolver and pointed it in the general direction of the other mother, according to the deputies' report.
Box was charged with reckless conduct and pointing a pistol at another person. Both charges are misdemeanors.
Sheriff's spokeswoman Nicole Ebbeskotte said Box turned herself in this morning, and bond was set at $1,200.<<

i'm 19, be 20 next month. Had my 2000 Dak Spt 4.7 since i was 17. And loved every minute of owning it.
Well i will add i had a moment of stupidity like 2 days ago. I went to look at trading my truck in for a "cough" civic. I know i gunna catch §h*t bout that but i thought i wanted sumthing with good gas milage and i was gunna do the whole ricer thing proboly. But thankfully i woke up. I just dont think i could get rid of my truck!!!!!Its just too fun to drive

I am trying to understand your point about copying a new story and that we are supposed to be surprised that Cherokee is an "affluent" county..does that imply these people are affluent or is that your jealousy about affluence?

I posted the Cherokee story to illustrate how quickly certain hot-headed people will draw a gun over something so trivial as an 11 yr-old's basketball game. The affluence comment was meant to illustrate that this is in a part of town where people should know not to act so "ghetto."
And I do stand corrected. You never said you didn't like me, but you did open this whole silly mess by calling me an idiot.
One more thing.... why are you thanking me for being "one of the easy victims?" Victim of what? Do you have something planned that we should know about?
