I notice my 93' dakota is starting to have paint problems(its peeling). I am thinking about taking it to get it painted if it gets much worse. I have some of that rubber side moulding that runs down the side and was wondering how I would take that off? Will there be bare paint under it and if its two-tone paint, will it look crapy? Are there any holes that would need to be filled?
I am looking for that almost shaved look(aside from the door handle and fender flares).

I think it is just glued on. If you keep the two tone you can run a small tape stripe on the line that divides the paints.

Hey, Andrew, welcome to the wonderful world of Chrysler paint. My '94 just started to peel too. As for your molding, it's more than likely stuck on with a double sided tape but some makes use metal tabs that are welded to the sheetmetal. I don't know what dodge uses cause I don't have moulding on mine. If you pull the moulding back a little you should be able to see the black or dark grey tape. If not, try sliding the whole piece left, right, or up.

i have a 93 and it just peeled right off. But it left a lot adhesive behind. It would be a good idea to use a heatgun or hairdryer to heat it up more. I've also heard that using a high strength fishing line and pull it along under the molding works godfor getting alot of the glue off. Most likely ome will be leftover though and u might need something like goo gone or something similar.
I did mine in 99 and there was no paint fading in the paint. But my truck is all white. Oh yeah, there are no holes to be filled.
