Subject: Grating/creaking sound when turning... IP: Logged
Message: Does anyone know of any cause of a groaning/creaking sound whenever I am turning rightonto a slightly eleveated driveway? This has been happening for a while now... (97 Dakota Club cab 5.2 manual, 4wd, limited slip)

Message: Sounds like a case of bad ball joints, when they no longer have any grease inside the boot, they will creak and eventually clunk. The factory ball joints stupidly cannot be greased since they are sealed. Other than could be a-arm bushings, I have heard of them going bad too from cracking and dry rotting.

Message: It could be the front sway bar bushings. I just had them done on my 2001. It made the same souds you described.
