Well, I am STILL without a truck! Does anyone know how or if it is even possible.. to by pass the alarm so I can get my truck started?.. my battery died Fri night and after charging it and tightnening the terminal connection the alam will not allow me to start the truck! I have tried using the key to lock and unlock the doors and every other combo of locking and unlocking.. no luck! The dealer is telling me they have to tow it in and check the computer! Anyone else ever have this?

Oh great, i have the factory alarm also on myy 2002 quad cab. I take it you have the factory alarm? and you need the special key to start the engine coorect? If so I hope this does not happen to me, this would suck especially if not at home and ways away from home. Sounds like the alarm may have recieved a voltage spike of some sort?

Kev, it is possible that it received a voltage spike from the charger (there is probably something buried in the back of the owners manual that tells you to disconnect something before charging or jump starting...)
I bought the truck used (its a 99) and it only came with one key,, maybe I didnt get the "special " key? Is that the only way I am going to get this thing started without having it towed to the stealer? ....opps.. dealer..

My key has the grey head for 2002 inside is the chip which the computer senses and turns off alarm. If you bought the truck used than it was running to begine with,correct? did you disconnect neg battery cable while charging it?

yeah Kev,,, it was running so the key isnt the issue unless I need it to disarm the alarm... but now that I am thinking about it... I didn't charge the batt correctly.. I left both pos and neg hooked up and I bet I fried someting when I turned on the battery charger.. all I can see now is $$$$$$$ tomorrow when the service dept at the local dealership gets it in...

This might be a long shot, but did you try disconecting the ground and just reseting the PCM ?

Well, I had it towed to the stealer this morning. . I will let you know what it was.. initially they gave me some line about the battery not putting out enough voltage to override the alarm.. hmmmmmmmm . anyone know how hard it is to yank these factory alarms out? I would love to mail the thing to Dodge and tell em what they can do with it.

Dave, do you just have one key, or do you have the keyless entry key fob as well?? If you have power doors and the factory alarm, then you have keyless entry as well. You shoudl have tried resetting the PCM by disconnecting the negative terminal in the battery, then locking and unlocking the doors to disable the alarm.

I have a 2002 grey dodge dakota and i only recieved one key when i bought it in 04. The manual alarm was set off and i got it demagnitized by a dealer. They said it would be best to just buy a fully operational one instead.
